Once a week Mr. Frogman and I go out to dinner. It can be chicken and jojo's from our local store deli or out on the town. Mr. Frogman really likes the Old Country Buffet all you can eat. We headed down there tonight and he loves to get the canteloupe, watermelon and jello. This isn't a matter of how much you take to eat but how much you tolerate with the lack of manners of people getting their meals?
Kids I can understand. Adults on the other hand.....How much do you put up with. People wander around with an empty plate in their hands looking at what is on the menu, or more so what is in the hot dish pans that looks good. They don't even say excuse me just barge across your path makeing you stop short and almost spill your plate on you or them. Do people wait their turn? Nooooooo.....they have to barge in right where you are standing as they can't wait an extra 10 seconds for you to finish serving and move on. It's almost as they are deciding for you how much you can take and move on. Heaven forbid there isn't enough left for them to have a serving as a server is bringing out a new pan.
Just tonight I went up to get some sauteed mushrooms (surprisingly they were very good) and I had a woman look at me and ask me if I was going to take them all. Just for the way she asked I wanted to look at her and in a Jim Carey tone (like in liar liar in the courtroom when the judge asks him if he can continue and he snears out yeeessss) and say yes....instead I looked at her smiled put the spoon down and walked away when I should have just taken the last of them.
Sometimes I really wish my parents hadn't raised me with such good manners and the ability to be polite and respectful. Thinking back on it now I should have laughed like Igor and smiled at her and snorted and in an Igor tone should have bent down and said...."No, they are mine....all mine..." then snorted and laughed.
Not only that but people would rush from their tables to get a serving or another serving (to each his own) or another plate, and they rush as though there isnt going to be enough or they might run out.
LOOK FOLKS this is an ALL YOU CAN EAT Buffet. Do you think they are going to run out? I don't think so. Slow down. It will still be hot when you get to it and there will still be plenty. Not only that I was scorned for not getting dessert from the dessert counter. I can't have alot of what they serve for desserts so I choose to go for the pudding that is located at the salad bar. I tend to grab a soup bowl and have "Fish Eye" pudding, tapioca to the lay person. Mr.Frogman doesn't like it so I get it when I can. **Sigh** It's almost a "Lord of the Flies" setting if you get in the way of someones quest to reach the buffet line first.
**Sigh** But Mr. Frogman likes it and it was his request. The things we put up with as parents to sometimes make our kids happy :)
