One of the observations I had, which in a way is not surprising at all after Mr. Frogmans Best Friend from School (The Sheriff), his dad was there during the camp fire at Camp Casey. One of Mr. Frogmans Teachers was sitting at the end of the bench and then there was "The Sheriff's" dad, myself and then Wolfman. As we were singing songs I was observing the involvement of the kids and the adults in the audience.
Since most of the adults visiting didn't know most of the words to the songs they sat looking along at their kids song books and quietly mouthing the words. The song that made the most impact on my observations was "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain".
This song has movements that go along with it. I watched the kids doing the motions and then observed alot of the adults too. It was amazing as we got to , "She'll be wearing red pajamas when she comes (scratch, scratch)" all of the girls and women would scratch their arms or top of their thighs (since we were all sitting). The majority of the boys and men would scratch the top or side of their legs up to just below the hip...ok ok almost to their back side. I thought this was funny as all the guys were doing this.
I continued to look around to see if it would happen throughout the song and sure enough it did. I started to laugh. I shared the observation with Sheriffs dad and Mr. Frogmans Teacher and we chuckled, when Sheriffs dad made the following comment, "It's not where we really want to be scratching." I laughed.
I didn't want to know where "they" really wanted to be scratching. I thought I would leave that one alone although I can only guess.
