Happy Birthday Butterball!

My son turned 23 on November 23rd. Thanksgiving day this year!

The day he was born his dad and I were scheduled to have a C-Section due to him being a larger baby.  It was scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving so that I could enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with family.  He decided to arrive the day before Thanksgiving.  He was born at a whopping 13 pounds 2 ounces.  Definitely my Butterball!

I started his day with this text message:

23 Years ago today...
You were born...
They broke the mold...
Everyone took a great sigh of relief...
A great cheer rose above the land!
Thank God there is only one of him!
Phew!!
That was a close call!

Happy Birthday to you!
The one and only you!

Love you!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

My idea of Thanksgiving dinner is having someone else cook the turkey!  Thank you Mom and Dad!
Each year they take on the daunting task.  Although my dad has deep fried the turkey the last few years and it has been amazing!   The rest of the family brings sides, appetizers, hors'deuvres, desserts.  I am usually assigned to desserts.  This year its pumpkin pie, cheesecake, cookies and apple pie!  Its going to be a great Thanksgiving!

Remember life is fleeting.  Make the most of your time with your friends and family~!

I am not the best cook but I can follow directions. I chilled the turkey like they asked for a few hours.

I can cook and I do it well.  I don't enjoy it! So I tell people, the people in my home don't let me cook.
I have burned something once in a fry pan on the stove and no one has ever let me forget it.  I can cook in a crock pot, or baking.  I enjoy that.  If I have to stand over the stove...forget it! I am not interested in cooking it.

After the one time I forgot the frying pan on the stove and blackened (severely) the item I was cooking.  I let people know if they want me to cook I can blacken anything! Most people don't allow me to cook on the stove top.  If I pick up the frying pan my family looks at me and says,
"Mom, put down the frying pan. Slowly..."
"Honey, what are you doing with that?"
"Do you want to give that to me? You don't' have a need for it."
"Hand it over slowly and no one gets hurt."

The only thing I was doing with it was putting it away out of the dishwasher!  :)
